La Hacienda Central Valley
Central Chile brings together the most typical of the colonial traditions. You will have the opportunity to enjoy the country life and observe the Chilean Cowboy, the “Huaso”, with his faithful Chilean Criollo horse as you visit local festivals and head out on our horseback excursions through the foothills of the Andes.
At our Eco-lodge Machalí, we produce maize and fruit for export during the summer months from November to April, and “El Teniente”, the biggest underground copper mine in the world with its unique village and mining museum, is only 30 miles away. Other interesting cultural activities include tours of the most important vineyards in Chile and the famous and old thermal baths that spring from the Andes.
For the polo fanatic, you can rely on the Machalí Polo Club - one of the most important in Chile. It is only a mile and a half from the Ecolodge Machalí where the Labbe family have their operational center. The club is home to over 100 members and boasts a clubhouse, three fields (considered among the best in the country) and a season from October to April when one can enjoy matches with handicaps of between 6 and 15 goals.
Trek in the marvelous southern volcanoes of Chile, and practice fly fishing in the majestic lakes of the Araucanía region (Lake District).

Tucked away in the heart of the Araucanía region, Eco-lodge Vilcún, our family ranch, offers an ample variety of possible diversions and sports, including handling livestock on horseback with the Huasos. Experience the typical country life of the region, fishing in the river, and exploring the spectacular range of countryside with its rich variety of flora.
Eco-lodge Vilcún is a working ranch that combines the thrill of cattle round ups with the opportunity to experience a way of life very different to your own. Here we breed beef cattle, Chilean Criollo ponies and polo ponies. The Criollo is the horse of the country, and is used by the Huasos in the traditional sport - the “rodeo”. Its the national sport of the country, that guests will have the opportunity to experience it first hand at the ranch.
There are also very interesting activities available outside of the ranch, such as fly fishing, horseback excursions and trekking. Moreover, you will have the opportunity to meet the local, native people the “Araucanos”, and visit lakes, active volcanoes and natural hot springs. All this amid a wilderness that you will not easily forget….
